Event Details

The purpose of this tour is to give an introduction to green commercial buildings and homes. The audience is Vancouver’s design, construction and real estate industries as well as the general public. On the tours, whether you are an industry insider or a member of the general public, you will find out what features are “green,” what the costs and benefits are of green building, and how you can incorporate such features into your next home or future project.

Purchasing a ticket gives you access to all of the Green Skyline tours throughout British Columbia for September 25-28, 2008. Most tours in Vancouver will begin at 11AM and will start at 1.5 hour intervals thereafter: 12:30pm, 2:00pm, and 3:30pm. Registrants can start at whichever building they want to and make their own way to tour the buildings in whichever sequence they please. Please see http://www.cascadiagbc.org/events/2008/september/green-skyline

HOWEVER, purchasing this bike tour ticket for the UBC tour on Thursday in Vancouver means that you intend to participate in this tour:

Thursday, September 25, 2008: Tour of UBC Buildings
There will be an organized bike tour of four commercial buildings in Vancouver, led by the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition. Participants must have their own bicycle in good working condition, bike helmet and lock, appropriate bike clothes (layers are good) and bag lunch (snacks & water). This tour will be leaving Kits at 9:45am (location to be sent out to participants when they sign up) and going through UBC, with the tour ending back in Kits at 5pm. Participants on the day will be asked to sign a waiver form, and pay a $2 fee to become VACC members for the day if they are not VACC members, this is for insurance purposes.

Meet at 9:45am at Vancouver School Board park (10th Ave Bike route @ Fir St), for waiver signing, and collection of $2 daily VACC memberships from non-VACC members. Meeting spot accessible by buses equipped with bike racks or near paid parking, for those not feeling too comfortable biking alone to the meeting spot.

The following commercial buildings are featured on Thursday tour of UBC in the following order:
11am: Composting Tour in South Campus
12:30: Life Sciences Centre, 2350 Health Sciences Mall - LEED Gold
2PM: Fred Kaiser Building, 2332 Main Mall - LEED Gold
3:30: CK Choi Building for the Institute of Asian Research, 1855 West Mall – UBC

Please bring your own lunch. There will be a stop along the way for participants to eat together, but there will not be tie for participants to purchase lunch.
